Please note that in line with standard transit operator practices worldwide, the train’s dwell time the time it remains at each station — is carefully calculated to maintain the schedule and ensure reliable, dependable service for all Gautrain passengers.
When the dwell time is exceeded, the driver will:
- Confirm the departure signal is green
- Check the platform mirror to ensure passenger safety
- Secure the doors using the interlock push button
Once the interlock door lock is activated, the driver must depart. The train may leave at any time within the dwell time window, typically between 1 and 30 seconds after arrival.
Please note that the train driver controls the opening and closing of the doors from the cabin. Once the train is in motion, the doors cannot be reopened.
We recommend arriving at the platform at least 5 minutes before the scheduled departure time to avoid missing the train.
